Father Son Experiences (for Older Sons) - Feedback & Photos
Father Son Experiences (for Older Sons) - Feedback from the Dads in 2022
Prior to this guided Father Son experience / rite of passage program, I didn’t know how to get close to my son, following a separation
from my wife, and having spent my son’s entire life as a F.I.F.O. worker.
This experience has helped me to feel much closer to my son, and I
believe that I can take this experience and run with it.
It provided me with structure and direction, and it showed me effective ways of
connecting with my son at a closer level, expressing what I am feeling, and
being able to talk to him about things I had previously found difficult to
share.
My favourite highlight from this experience was seeing the sheer
excitement in the eyes of my son as we white water rafted down the Tully River.
I would also like to thank you personally for your great work, and I hope we
can continue to keep in touch.
Jack (Age 59 years)
from Warwick, QLD.
Prior to this guided Father and Son Adventure
experience / rite of passage program, I had wanted to pass on to my son what my Dad had not given me…
how to be a man… yet I didn’t have the tools to do so.
I now feel equipped. I feel closer to my son.
I know myself better, and I know
clearly what I need to do to become more of an authentic man.
Your honesty and transparency was refreshing, and gave me the confidence to
take off the mask and be more real.
I have always told my kids that I love them, however now I feel that comment is
backed up by the reason why.
For me, my highlight was meeting other Dads, listening to their stories, sharing our own
stories, the presentations, the small group times. In fact, it was all really
great. :)
Some benefits I received from my involvement in this experience, are as
follows…
1. A framework on how to help my son into manhood,
2. To be more fun, and not so serious, and
3. Being a part of a bigger network of Dads to connect with.
David (Age 56 years)
from Perth, W.A.
Prior to this guided Father and Son Adventure
experience / rite of passage program, I was grappling with how best to guide my son as he approached
manhood.
This experience has given me a profound framework, and will have a
lasting impact on how I will approach fathering my son into manhood. Remarkable.
You have given me a compass that will now always be there whenever I am unsure,
or face challenges, as a Dad.
My favorite highlights from the experience were as follows…
- On the Adventure side - the hike to the summit of the mountain and our
conversations, and
- On the presentations side – Darren’s remarkable delivery, and impactful
authentic insights.
Specific benefits I received during this experience are as follows…
1. A deeper connection with my son,
2. A deeper connection to my own manhood / masculine identity, and
3. A framework for being an authentic man.
Looking forward, I will have a deeper meaning and purpose as a father.
Don’t change a thing – the formula you have created is perfect.
The value-for-money of the experience is unbelievable. You should
actually be charging more!
And this experience is ideally suited for anyone who is genuinely
passionate about being a better father.
Steven (Age 46 years)
from Sydney, NSW.
Prior to this guided Father and Son experience / rite of passage program, my son was struggling to engage in things that made him feel
awkward / vulnerable. He would often shut these kinds of conversation down, or
minimise any encouragement / guidance given.
After reading authors like Steve Biddulph, Richard Rohr, and many others, I
became convinced that my son would benefit from a rite of passage.
This experience is the beginning of re-establishing the fatherhood line
in my family, as my Dad has been physically absent since before my birth.
It
gave me clarity of manhood / masculinity, and provided me with opportunities to
engage with my son, and other Dads.
My favorite highlights from the experience were as follows…
- Overcoming my fear of drowning, when I started my scuba dive, and
- The conversation my son and I had in response to his question to me.
Specific benefits I received during this experience are as follows…
1. A deeper understanding of manhood,
2. A stronger connection with my son, and
3. A platform to start my son on his journey into authentic manhood.
Looking forward, my son and I both have a shared vision for manhood,
which is a tremendous blessing for our family, and for the other places /
people we serve.

Father Son Experiences (for Older Sons) - Feedback from the Sons in 2022
I
agreed to join my Dad for this guided Father and Son experience / rite of passage program because we found it surfing the internet, and I thought
it would be a great opportunity to connect with my Dad and understand him.
This experience has meant so much to me, in the sense that I have learnt a
great deal about my father, and about myself.
It has taught me how to be a
better man and a better person.
It has really opened my eyes to what a real man
is, and it was a tonne of fun.
The moment I realized that this experience was helping me in my journey, was
during “The 4 Marks of a Real Man” session, when I finally understood what I
was trying to become, and how everyone was helping.
My favourite highlight of the experience was definitely the white water
rafting, but also the presentations, because the experience as a whole helped
me to enjoy everything, whilst still learning a great deal.
The main benefit I have received from this experience is that it helped me
realize that I am quite passive in ways at home and school, and has now put me
on the right path.
Looking forward, I believe that I am going to become a kind, caring, and
respectful person, who shares all, and cares for all.
When it comes to value-for-money, this experience was absolutely 10/10.
I loved every moment. It ran smoothly, and was perfect.
I would recommend this experience to everyone who wants to strengthen
their relationship with their Dad, and become a better man.
Jack (Age 15 years) from Sydney, NSW.
Prior
to this guided Father and Son Adventure experience / rite of passage program, Dad
and I were constantly fighting and having disagreements. We both had to try
counselling for our relationship, which did not work. Once things after
counselling did not improve, I began to give up trying.
I originally did not want to join Dad for this experience, but when I saw
how important it was to him, I agreed to come.
I believe that this has been the most amount of time my Dad and I have ever
spent together.
I enjoyed getting to know him better, especially what he was
like when he was my age.
I found having Darren with us along the journey, motivated us to keep trying to
fix our relationship.
I found that on the second day, Dad was telling me more about himself, and what
he was feeling.
That’s when I realized this experience was helping us.
My favourite highlight of the experience was the white water rafting. It
was really fun, it was something that my Dad and I had never done before, and I
also enjoyed working with the other sons and fathers.
This experience gave Dad and I more time to bond.
Looking forward, I believe that Dad and I will feel more comfortable
around each other, and talk more to one another.
Once I go back to school, I will definitely recommend ‘Fathering Adventures’ to
my friends and show them the website. Even if they do not have struggles in
their relationships, it will still be a very good bonding experience for them.
Corey (Age 15 years) from Brisbane, QLD.
I
agreed to join my Dad for this guided Father and Son Adventure experience / rite of passage program because my brother and sister had attended before.
I
thought that it was going to be all fun and games, but it turned out better,
and was a good opportunity for my Dad and I to get to know each other even
more.
It has shown me how much my father loves me, and has taught me how to be a man,
and how to be a good one.
My favourite highlight of the experience was white water rafting,
because we were both scared, but did it together and took care of each other.
I can’t suggest any changes or improvements, as it was perfect.
Ben (Age 15 years)
from Melbourne, VIC.
Prior
to this guided Father and Son experience / rite of passage program, I
experienced many challenges with my father. We were very irritable and
argumentative. We struggled to connect and talk with each other. Nothing seemed
right to me about my relationship with my Dad. I felt an overwhelming sense of
anger, for reasons I’m not able to pinpoint.
The moment I realized that this experience was helping us in our journey, was
when I asked my Dad my question, “What was your childhood like?”. He shared,
and a wave of understanding and love hit me. I felt connected to my Dad.
That exercise helped me realize that a loving and understanding relationship
with my father was possible, and I was better able to accept my father, and not
get annoyed.
The experience helped us to know our true feelings toward one another. It
confirmed that we are for one another, and that he is always there for me. HE
LOVES ME!!
Looking forward, I believe that life will now be a lot less stressful,
and hopefully I will have more patience and understanding toward my peers,
family, and everyone.
When it comes to value-for-money, the value of this experience supersedes the
cost. Whether the cost was $2, $3,500, or $1,000,000, everything was amazing
and worth it.
In this age, every father and son needs to experience this, however it’s
important that they want to.
