Father Son Programs (for Young Sons) - Feedback & Photos
Father Son Programs (for Young Sons) - Recent Feedback from Fathers
Prior to engaging ‘Fathering Adventures’, I had
not been spending enough time with my son.
I didn’t know what his needs were exactly as he was growing up.
We wrongly had an over emphasis on meeting his academic needs rather than his
emotional and developmental needs.
And when I did spend time with him, I was not necessarily being effective or
intentional.
I chose to register for this guided “Fathering Boys” Father and Son Adventure
Weekend experience, because I resonated with the challenges fathers face, and I
acknowledged that I needed to improve my fathering skills.
This father son program was an opportunity to spend intentional time with my son and
affirm him, and meet other likeminded fathers and sons..
It also provided me with strategies I can apply moving forward.
The moment I realised that you were actually helping me in my journey as a Dad,
was when my son responded to the 3 intelligence-gathering questions you had ask
our sons.
My favourite highlight from this father son camp was having many moments of deep
conversations with my son.
Beyond this father and son camp, I will be more intentional in sharing one on one time
with my son, and inviting his feedback on my fathering style.
Elgene (Age 50 years) from Sydney, NSW.
Prior to engaging ‘Fathering Adventures’, I had been
experiencing years of feeling lost, and
my frustration was enormous. I felt as though I had no time to invest into my
kids.
This guided “Fathering Boys” Father and Son Adventure Weekend experience has
meant a great deal to me. This time with my son has helped me achieve a dream
that had seemed too hard amongst all of the pressures at home. It also boosted my confidence in regards to loving my son through
these challenging times, and also gave me strategies to love others better.
The moment I realised that you were actually helping me in my journey as a Dad,
was when you taught us Dads how to affirm our sons, and not just the necessary
things to say, but expanding upon the why we need to say them. That was huge
for me.
Needless to say, my favourite highlight from this father son program was applying what
we had learnt – actually affirming our sons.
Beyond this father son camp, life at home seems more hopeful, and my hope seems more
tangible, because I plan on applying all the skills and tools I learnt
throughout the weekend, more broadly at home.
Grant (Age 49 years) from Orange, NSW.
Prior to engaging ‘Fathering Adventures’, I felt
frustrated by the generational gap between my son and I that I couldn’t seem to
bridge on my own.
I chose to register for this guided “Fathering Boys” Father and Son Adventure
Weekend experience, because my own childhood trauma inspired me to not recreate
the same experience for my kids.
This father son program was a wonderful way to seal the “beloved son”
stage in my 13 year old son’s journey.
You provided a structure and an underlying framework which I had lacked.
Although I have read books, nothing compares to the experiential process you
offer.
The moment I realised that you were actually helping me in my journey as a Dad,
was when Darren reminded us Dads that whilst we are Dads, we are also sons, as
that helped me reflect upon my own childhood experience as a son.
My favourite highlight from this father son camp was affirming my son on Saturday
night, after you had coached us Dads on how to best do that.
Beyond this father and son camp, I will focus on being more involved in my son’s life,
be less judgmental of him and his preferences, and step more into his world.
The value for money of this father son program was great. In fact, this experience was
priceless.
Darren P. (Age 48 years) from Sydney, NSW.
Prior to engaging ‘Fathering Adventures’, my greatest challenge was being intentional about connecting with my eldest son, as we are different personality-wise. And whenever I would plan to do so, something would always come up, preventing us to do so.
I chose to register for this guided “Fathering Boys” Father and Son Adventure Weekend experience, because I realized that I was missing out on opportunities to speak into my son’s life.
This father son program was awesome. It took my connection with my son to a whole other level. I learnt things about him that I never knew. And it enabled me on a one-on-one basis to tell my son how much he means to me as my son. I learnt so much from Darren’s experience with his own 4 sons, and it created opportunities to have deep father-son time. Not only am I now better equipped to be an intentional father, I also now have a better perspective of what a father looks like.
The moment I realised that you were helping me in my journey as a Dad, was when my son said, “Dad, I am having so much fun with you.”, and “I really know now how much you love me.”.
My favourite highlight from this father son camp was affirming my son on Saturday evening, and being able to tell him that he is my beloved son. Beyond this father and son camp, I will be more intentional as a Dad, and I will speak more into my son’s life.
Lourens (Age 45 years) from Brisbane, QLD.
I chose to register for this guided “Fathering
Boys” Father and Son Adventure Weekend experience, because I want to get this
right!
It’s really important to me that each of my children receive into their
lives, at crucial moments and times, that which I didn’t.
This father son program has been a time of reconnecting with my son, that can sometimes
get a little lost or ignored in the process and busyness of this thing we call
life.
‘Fathering Adventures’ offers the scaffolding, understanding and skills to help
Dads become destiny through their children’s eyes. Thank you Darren and
Melissa.
My favourite highlight from this father son camp was the intentional 1 on 1 time on
Saturday afternoon, capped by affirming my son that night.
Beyond this father and son camp, I will hopefully be more authentic through
servant-hearted leadership toward my wife and kids.
To articulate fully the blessing that ‘Fathering Adventures’ has been to me and
my family since our paths first crossed – I have no words.
Without you both, this weekend simply could not have happened.
Jono (Age 44 years) from Dubbo, NSW.

My relationship with my Dad will now be like we are brothers. We love
each other and he will always be there.

Rylan (Age 11 years) from Brisbane, QLD.
This guided “Fathering
Boys” Father and Son Adventure Weekend experience has meant a lot to me,
because it has been an opportunity to help me spend time with my Dad, and we
don’t get to do all of these fun activities at home, as much as we did here.
When my Dad affirmed me and told me that he loved me very much, it made me feel loved and
comfortable.
This father son camp has helped my relationship with my Dad, and bond with him
much more, and looking ahead, I believe we will be more patient with
each other, and we will spend more time with each other.
And I would love to join Dad for a guided “Rite of Passage” Father Son
Adventure experience in my teenage years, so that I can get advice from a
real man who has already experienced manhood. Plus I would already be
comfortable talking to him.
