What our past participants have said…

This “Prepared for Manhood” 5 Night Father-Son Adventure experience has meant certainly more than words can express, but I’ll try. Life changing – today a large black hole left my heart, and was filled by the words of my son. My favourite memory from this experience was the hike to the summit of Mt Tyson, and the conversation I had on the mountain with my son, with honesty and love. I have no suggested changes or improvements, as you delivered, by turning my heart to my son, and his heart to me. I will definitely recommend ‘Fathering Adventures’ to others. I feel this needs to be shouted from the mountains for fathers to hear. This experience was very good value. In fact, knowing what I know now, this was a bargain investment in my son’s life. I learnt this week that I can talk to my son, and not have to be perfect. I can see how real men work in their children’s (and family’s) lives.

Daniel from Perth, WA

The greatest opportunity of this “Prepared for Manhood” 5 Night Father-Son Adventure experience was for Dad & I to spend time in a removed environment, and chat about anything & everything, and have fun together. The adventure and quality time experiences are memories I take away and will remember forever. It’s been a great blessing to spend this time intentionally.

Kyle from Brisbane, QLD – Age 20 years

This “Prepared for Manhood” 5 Night Father-Son Adventure experience has meant a great deal to me, primarily because it validated the value of our relationship. The 3 relationship & manhood adventures including the Initiation Ceremony on the final evening were important, and I was pleased to be a part of my son’s journey to manhood. Rites of passage and the roles of men in society are subjects I have considered, and been a part of for years. This week has given me even more ideas. My favourite memory from this experience was my son telling me how much he appreciated me, and how grateful he was that I took the time to bring him. I learnt this week, that I am doing OK as a Dad, and that I really should just be myself, faults & all. I have learnt important strategies to apply to all my boys. I realize that greater planning and formality are important considerations. You have a remarkable gift Darren; your passion for relationships, and your ability to articulate that with such enthusiasm, honesty, and grace, is a rare skill. Thank you.

Richard from Melbourne, VIC

This “Prepared for Manhood” 5 Night Father-Son Adventure experience has meant a great deal to me. The last 5 nights and days have been incredible. The people, the activities, and the presentations were all so magnificent. I built up my relationship with my Dad to a greater extent than ever before. I learnt this week that there’s more to being a man than age. It takes values, attitudes, and experiences to become a man.

Ben from Melbourne, VIC – Age 15 years

After bringing my eldest son along to this “Prepared for Manhood” 5 Night Father-Son Adventure experience 5 years ago, I had been counting down the time to bring my second son, and it was again, an unbelievably memorable experience. My favourite memory from this experience was the hike to the summit of Mt Tyson… sharing things with one another, that we had never before discussed. I learnt this week just how ready my son was for young manhood, how appreciated I am by him, and how important it is for men to support each other. Thanks as always Darren. You’re the real deal.

Martin from Townsville, QLD

This “Prepared for Manhood” 5 Night Father-Son Adventure experience has provided me with an opportunity to connect and do activities with my father, that I wouldn’t normally do, and talking with him about his childhood on Mt Tyson was good. My favourite memory from this experience was working with my father to climb Mt Tyson, and our talk at the top. Later in life, I will bring my son along to one of these adventure experiences, and lead him into manhood. I learnt this week that this world has too many boys in men’s bodies, and that it needs more authentic men.

Michael from Orange, NSW – Age 14 years

I wanted to write you to let you know how much I valued the recent “Prepared for Manhood” 5 Night Father-Son Adventure experience with my son Nick. Firstly I valued the precious time I had with my son. 5 whole days and nights together in the company of good men and their sons. Nick is 21 and we probably have not ever spent that volume of time together without other family members. It was precious time in which we laughed out loud, remembered times past, and talked a lot about his present and future. It was a time of invaluable teaching about the vital role we have as fathers. The structure of the program provided opportunity to apply the teaching immediately. It was a great time of adventure together in which we created life long memories. The adventures created an environment in which I was challenged equally as Nick and we were able to rely on each other as we tacked the adventures. It created an amazing opportunity to speak significantly with my son and speak significance into him and his future. I know neither of us will never forget what we shared. The outcomes from this time together will be known more in the future, however immediate outcomes included: Bringing us closer together, Healed some old wounds, Creating a compelling vision for Nick as a man, Connecting with other good men and Creating very positive memories. Keep doing what you do Darren you are a blessing to the global community of men.
